Roofing Process

Florida law requires that a licensed contractor complete all roofing work, and Peet Roofing will apply for, secure, and pay for all roofing permits required by your city or town.We will:

  • We will tear off your existing roof and underlayment to the decking. We will then check all decking and replace any rotten wood. 
  • Replace any damaged wood and re-nail the entire decking to meet code requirements.

In addition, we will install a code-required underlayment for customers. Peet Roofing recommends synthetic underlayment, which is engineered to repel water and resist moisture. If you have a specific material you’d like us to use on your home’s roof, please don’t hesitate to let us know.   We will:

  • Utilize Valley Metal & Ice and Water Shield, as valleys see more water than other parts of your roof. These products help to keep your roof watertight.
  • Install new Drip Edge everywhere except behind gutters. Drip Edge is a piece of flashing that prevents water from going under your shingles and behind your gutters. 

If you’d like or need new gutters, Peet Roofing will arrange a gutter replacement to coincide with your new roof construction.

  • We will install new boots, vents, and skylights (there is an extra charge for new skylights, or we can reuse existing ones) and paint all the boots to match the color of your shingle.
  • Install new 130mph wind-resistant Architectural shingles. At Peet Roofing, we carry all the manufacturers/brands of shingles available. Peet Roofing understands that your home is your sanctuary and your family’s safety is paramount. We will:

  • Remove and discard all debris from your old roof and underlayment in the appropriate city landfill.   
  • Run Magnets around your home to pick up nails from construction. We pledge to leave your home, yard, driveway, and surrounding areas safe, clean, and completely intact, just as we found them.

Originally founded in Ohio in 1937, Peet Roofing Central Florida was established by Robert Peet in 1993 and is now owned and operated by his nephew, fourth-generation roofer Andrew Peet.
